University of Brawijaya
Brawijaya University or University of Brawijaya, commonly abbreviated as UB, is established in 1963 and is located in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The name of Brawijaya is derived from Prabu Brawijaya, King of Majapahit Empire (a great kingdom in Indonesia in the 12th - 15th centuries). UB is a state university in Indonesia and a leading university in the country with currently more than 60,000 students in degrees ranging from the diploma program (one- and two-year), Bachelor’s (four-year) degree program, Master’s degree program, Doctoral degree program, and Medical Specialist program across 15 faculties.
UB main campus is located in a strategic place in in the city of Malang, East Java, which is easily reached by public transportation. The campus has a pleasant climate with many trees and the cool air of Malang at 492 meters elevation (above sea level). The land size of such campus is more than 2,000,000 square metres. UB also has several satellite campuses in many cities in Indonesia including Jakarta, the Capital City of Indonesia. Since 2007, UB has been directed to become a world class entrepreneurial university in order to fostering its vision and mission.
SIET 2016 is established and firstly hosted by Faculty of Computer Science, abbreviated as FILKOM, Brawijaya University. FILKOM is categorized as a young faculty in UB, however, it has been highly recognized by industries and other stakeholders due to its strong commitment with the educational quality including teaching and research. It has undergraduate and graduate programs. FILKOM has implemented competency-based curriculum referring to ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) which is supported by qualified lecturers and adequate supporting infrastructures. FILKOM aims to produce graduates who have entrepreneurial spirit based on moral and ethical responsibility as well as trustworthy personality such that they are able to make qualified contributions at the national and international levels.
